For the record book....
-Davidson County School students have to go to school on a Saturday for the first time in my teaching/administrative career - I knew it would happen eventually and thanks to that terrible storm that came through our county on Monday night, I will be at work and thousands of kids across the county will be at school tomorrow. Thank goodness it's an early release day so I should be home by 1:45, but, I will feel like my weekend is super short! Next week could seem l-o-n-g. Thank goodness I already planned on taking next Friday off of work! :) Even though the teachers and students are not super excited about school being in session tomorrow, we will be thankful for our day off on Tuesday and then make the best of the day tomorrow! :)
For the record book....
-the Itty Bitty Kiddy Festival that I was so excited about last weekend was not too exciting, mainly because the wind was blowing so hard that the games that were planned couldn't happen. Luke enjoyed sitting on the bench, eating some goldfish while watching the Kid City cloggers. We only stayed about 30 minutes and then went to do an indoor activity.

-because last Saturday was too windy to stay outdoors, we ventured outside ALL day on Sunday. Luke LOVES Dan Nicholas Park so that's where we went, but this time, we took Daddy...we had so much fun...we rode the train two times and the carousel one time (Luke enjoyed it this time). We saw the animals again and Luke played on the playground for over an hour....Luke loves to just walk around and explore, picking up objects along his way. We will definitely visit again soon!

-Luke is saying several new words - duck, truck, and bird. Duck and truck sound a lot alike but he points to what he is saying so that helps me understand. Bird is not very clear but he is saying the same sounding word every time he points to a bird.

-Luke loves visits with his memaw....last Saturday night, we went to dinner with my mom, my stepdad, and my niece/sister, Lexi....then, we went back to memaw's house to play. Luke and memaw had a blast! I have included pics below!
For the record book....
-Luke had another adventure with my keys (remember last time he called the cops), only this time, I almost had a panic attack. On Tuesday morning, Luke and I went to Babies R' Us in Greensboro. As we were leaving the store, I let Luke hold my keys....then, I put him in the car (not strapped in) while I loaded the trunk and the backseat. I had all four car doors closed while I loaded the trunk. As I was coming around the corner of the car, I heard "click!" Oh my gosh! I knew what just happened. There sat Luke in my car all by himself, grinning, holding my keys, pushing the lock button. I seriously thought I was going to have a heart attack. I got someone from Babies R' Us to watch the car while I ran in to use the phone (because my phone was locked in the car). I called Landis, who works in Winston, and asked him to come unlock my car as soon as he could. In the meantime, the sweetest old lady and man stood with me beside of my car as we entertained Luke with silly faces and tried our best to coach him on which button to push on the keys. After what seemed like an eternity (but was actually only 10 minutes), Luke accidentally hit the unlock button and I opened the door!!!! After giving him a huge hug and thanking everyone who was trying their best to keep me calm, we safely left Babies R' Us. I thank God for protecting my little boy when I'm too dumb too! :) I mean, what was I thinking???? Obviously, not that he would hit the lock button. The amazing thing was that even though he wasn't strapped in, he didn't try to go anywhere else in the car where he could get hurt and he never panicked or got upset - I think he thought it was a fun peek a boo game. Well, one day I will tell him about that peek a boo game and how much fun mommy did NOT have....so, FOR THE RECORD BOOK....take my advice (like you really need it)....don't let your child play with your keys while inside your car with the doors shut....I'm such a goof ball! :)
Enjoy the pics....I'm off to bed to get ready for SCHOOL TOMORROW!!! :)
