Does Thursday night count as a mid-week post??? :) Okay, okay....I tried....so....
First of all, our trip to Lazy 5 - last Saturday, my neighbor, Caren, and her son, William (who was born in the same hospital just 2 days before Luke) went to the Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville. We planned the trip a few days ahead so that we could, hopefully, make the trip worthwhile. Well, it was....we had a great time! We arrived at the ranch with about 10 minutes to spare before the scheduled wagon ride. The wagon ride was AWESOME! I think Caren and I enjoyed it just as much (if not more) than the boys. We were both a little worried about Luke and William sitting down on a wagon for 45 minutes. But....they both did well. They were able to stand up in between stops so that helped. We fed giraffes, zebras, deer, buffalo, pot belly pigs, and some type of large bird that I don't remember the name of....Luke watched me feed the animals for the first couple of times and then he very hesitantly put his hand out a few times. I think his favorite part was playing in the animal feed bucket. :) I do think he also enjoyed the huge buffalo....it was so cool to see how long and curly their tongues were - we would hold the food up above them and they would stick out their tongues and scoop up the food. Besides the fact that they had terrible breath....it was super neat! :)
After the wagon ride, Caren and I sat the boys down for a quick snack and then let them play on the playground. This part definitely ranked at the top of Luke's list....he loves any kind of playground....and this one had the coolest peek-a-boo areas.....it had these wooden ships that the kids could run in and out of...William and Luke had a great time! I got some cute pictures of their fun below! :)
But, first a few random pics....
Luke at the park...
#1 - The Teapot: When the song, "I'm a little teapot" comes on....I have shown him how to "tip" over during that part of the song. I show him to lean over to the side, well, now, if you notice in this video, he is "tipping" from side to side when he hears the song....
#2 - Skip to My Lou: During this song, Luke tries to skip around like I do, but, basically, he is running around....in this video, he runs into his tunnel (his favorite hiding spot).
#3 - The Flip: Every since he started gymnastics, he wants to flip/roll all the time. What you see in this video is Luke trying to do a flip. He can't really do it by himself yet....thank goodness!
#4 - Wheels on the Bus: He briefly shows me the wheels on the bus hand motions and then he hides in his tunnel. Then, watch closely because after he crawls out of his tunnel, he starts "breaking it down" to the music. Speaking of "breaking it down" - last Friday night, we took him to the Dash game in Winston and he was running around in the grassy area behind center field....all of a sudden, they began playing music over the loud speakers....what do you think Luke did? He danced, right there, on the spot, started shaking his booty with a huge grin on his face! It was adorable! :)
Enjoy the videos!!
I hope you will visit again soon - I am hoping to post again maybe Monday since I will not be working....I have an exciting weekend planned....the pool opens on Saturday so Luke and I will be swimming for sure and then on Saturday night, Landis and I are going to spend the night at a local resort to celebrate our 8th anniversary. My mom will be keeping Luke all night - it will be my first full night away from him. I'll miss him like crazy, but I must remember that before Luke, was Landis and I owe it to my husband to spend some quality time with him. :)
Also - I am officially done with nursing - I plan on devoting a post dedicated to just that experience, but I need to collect my thoughts and feelings before I write it....the experience of nursing my child for over a year was a blessing for me and I want to post my experience in a way that will encourage other moms to do the same. :)
So...in other words... you better stay tuned...good posts to come....especially since I only have 3 more weeks of work!!! :)
Have a great weekend.
Toddy
