Labor Day Fun!

I apologize for the delay in posting....I planned on finishing this post before our trip to the beach but just didn't have time....speaking of the beach, we had a great time and are home safe and sound...I will post about our trip very soon...until then, check out our fun times over the long Labor Day weekend....

Landis and I started our Labor Day weekend with a retreat to Grandover Resort. Landis' company did a one night mini-vacation at the resort for several managers and their spouses. On Friday night, we had dinner in downtown Greensboro, came back to the gorgeous resort and spent some time on the beautiful outdoor patio, and then got up Saturday morning, ate a delicious breakfast and had a super relaxing 50 minute massage while the boys played golf. I had a great time but was glad to be back home squeezing my little man by noon on Saturday.

Luke had an awesome time with my mom and she enjoyed keeping him. When memaw's around, I don't worry about Luke missing mommy and daddy...he loves spending time with memaw, pappaw, and Lexi (or as Luke calls her, "awesome Lexi"). :)

After Luke's nap on Saturday, he and I headed to Founders Pool for our last Founders Pool day of the summer. We had the best time! When we first arrived, there were several families there so Luke joined in with them and played with all of their toys. He played with a tiny teapot set for quite a while. Then, after about 30 minutes, we ended up having the entire baby pool to ourselves. When everyone left, Luke made sure to wave and say, "Bye Guys."

Luke enjoyed the baby pool so much that he never even asked to go to the big pool. Luke spent about 30 minutes throwing the ball in and out of the pool. Then, he rode in his race car float. I would blow bubbles and pretend to be a shark as I swam up to his float and tickled him. Luke drove his race car float all over the baby pool. When he was done with the float, I tossed Luke in the air and then pretended to drop him over and over....he would laugh out loud! Then, I let Luke ride on my back as I walked around the pool on all fours. He would say, "ride the horsey." Luke took a snack break and ate some puffs and fruit crisps while sitting on the bench. Then, we ended our fun time with some extra "weeessss" around the pool - this is me holding Luke by the arms and spinning him in circles. We had such a fun time! I think Luke smiled or laughed the entire 2 1/2 hours that we were there....what a great way to end our Founders Fun this summer! I can't wait until next year!

We had such busy days Friday and Saturday that Sunday was the "chill out" day. We went to church and to lunch and then we came home and played around the house for the rest of the afternoon.

On Monday morning, we got going early - we took a quick trip to Creekside Park before the rain started....Luke was able to climb and slide and go on a nature walk for about 45 minutes before the bottom fell out and got both of us quite wet. :)

After our wet park trip, we headed to Babies R' Us. I wanted to go ahead and buy Luke a potty so that we are ready to begin the training process in just a few months. I also bought Luke a book to begin reading to him about using the potty. While we were in Babies R' Us, I realized that I had a coupon for 20% of toddler couches. I went to look at these and got a few down for Luke to sit on....his favorite was the Sesame Street couch that also pulled out into a tiny bed with an attached sleeping bag - it was so cute that we bought it! Luke couldn't wait to get home to sit on it!

On our way home from Babies R' Us, we stopped by Barnes and Nobles and let Luke play with the trains for just a little while and then we met Landis at Milo's for lunch. Luke ate a great lunch and was out like a light in the car before I could get him home. :)

While Luke napped, I rearranged some toys in the living room and in his room and put a few toys away so that I could make room for Luke's new couch. When Luke woke up, he had a blast playing on it! He sat Mickey Mouse and George on the couch with him, gave them kisses and hugs, and grinned as he sat on the couch - George, Luke, and Mickey. I showed him how the couch turned into a bed and, wow, this sure did impress him! I think he all of a sudden thought that he was in gymnastics because he did front rolls on the bed part a few times. :) He played and played on his couch/bed for a very long time. I have some cute pics of him playing at the bottom.

Later on Monday afternoon, we took a quick trip to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things and to get some ice cream. We came back home and ate our ice cream on the front porch together. Our neighbors, William and Caren, saw us outside so Caren brought me some clothes that she had for Luke and then she and William stayed to play for awhile. The boys had a blast! They played with all of the push and pull toys, the cars, the balls, and then we all played hide and seek together. It was a super fun way to spend the afternoon.

Before I knew it, it was dinner time and bed time and our long weekend had come to an end. Boy, time flies when you are having fun! :)

This was one of those weekends that didn't include some awesome field trip or special event - it was just some good 'ole end of the summer fun and I enjoyed every second of it!

Here are some pics....enjoy...

Luke on the new couch...

Luke and William enjoying a snack on the new couch...

Luke giving a nose kiss...

This is Luke riding the big elephant at Babies R' Us....see him waving???

Luke playing hide and seek behind the trees at Creekside Park during our nature walk right before the rain began...

Luke and I are always creating our own games....in this picture, you can see that Luke and I made a tunnel using the kitchen chairs and a blanket. We rolled cars back and forth to each other under the tunnels and then Luke crawled into the tunnel a few times....

This is a vide of Luke giving nose kissed and being goofy on his new couch....

I hope to post in a few days about our beach trip - I have a busy few days coming up and they just got busier because Luke is running a 103.5 temperature and will be going to the doctor tomorrow, which means no work for me, which means I will be SOOOO behind....but, my child comes first....I'll get it all figured out...I usually do!

Good night everyone! See you soon!

Toddy
