In preparation for our upcoming trip to the mountains and Tweetsie Railroad, I was erasing some videos (that have already been put on DVD) from the big video camera. Before erasing them, I watched them again. They were videos from April 2010 so Luke was about 4 months old. Luke decided that he wanted to watch them with me. The videos included a lot of footage from Easter 2010. The first video showed Luke in his bouncy chair that we gave him for Easter that year. It was absolutely amazing how much Luke has changed. To me, one of the only recognizable features of Luke as a 4 month old compared to now is his big, beautiful blue eyes - every other feature seems to have changed so much.
One more aspect of our sweet Luke that hasn't changed was his precious smile. I loved looking back at his sweet, slobbery smile from almost 3 years ago. On the video, Landis starts talking to him and he jumps in his bouncy seat and grins from ear to ear with his slimy fingers all in his mouth. It is precious! I found myself, not missing those days, because Luke is even more precious now when he looks up at me with that same smile and says, "I love you Mommy!"; however, I did find myself getting the urge to have another baby around one day (maybe soon). :) We shall see what is in the Lord's plan....:)
The other video that we watched showed 4 month old Luke watching his dancing Easter bunny for the first time. On the big video, little Luke smiled and smiled and wiggled when he saw the bunny dancing, singing, and lighting up. The, now 2 year old, Luke watched this with me and immediately wanted to dance with the bunny like the "baby on the video." (Oh...and, a little side note, my 2 year old Luke also told me that he wanted "one of those" here all the time. I said, "One of those babies at your house all the time????" Luke's answer, "yes, one of those babies." I'm not quite sure he realizes how much his world would change if "one of those babies" lived here all the time.) Again...we shall see what the future holds....
After watching baby Luke dance and giggle and smile, we decided to get the dancing bunny out again and let 2 year old Luke do some dancing. So, here is Luke dancing with the bunny....
Another project of mine last week was putting some video from my little camera onto DVD. After I do this, I like to play it back on the TV to make sure that the video quality is good. We were watching back the DVD from August of this year and came across this video....(it was posted on my blog awhile back but I thought I would post it again)....we played this video over and over because, for some reason, this time, it was hilarious to watch Luke's awful temper as he yells at his blocks for falling over. Landis and I literally laughed until we cried watching him....just in case you didn't see it before....here it is again....(pay close attention to what he says at the end....after yelling and screaming, Luke grabs a pair of his kid scissors and says, "Mommy, I need to cut your hair." Do what???? I don't think so dude!)
Enjoy...
The little black car that Luke was holding in his hands in that video was Luke's new favorite toy. It's one of his oldest cars but for some reason lately, it's Luke's favorite. He has named the car "Emily" (just like one of the trains on Thomas). Emily does all kinds of things around here - she is a part of every game we play! She even sleeps in Luke's bed (with cow, of course). :)
Before I go, here's a few more cute updates from Luke. A few of his new favorite words include - "actually" and "also" and "beneath." It is hilarious to hear him use these words in sentences that sound like such a grown up. Yesterday at Barnes and Noble, he asked me to reach up and get the green train "beneath" the blue one. I looked at him for just a minute wondering if I were talking to a 10 year old or a 2 year old. Speaking of a 10 year old, in the last few weeks, Luke seems to act like he thinks he is 10 years old. All of a sudden, me or Daddy cannot do anything for him - when he needs to potty, he wants to get his own potty seat and stool, take his own pants and underwear down, and use the bathroom all by himself. When he's eating, he doesn't want anything chopped up, he wants to chop it up himself. When he gets dressed, he wants to help me as much as possible. It's a bittersweet stage - we are enjoying the easier stage but, at times, want the growing up to slow down - it's such a fast passing precious season that we sure are enjoying.
One more cute comment - on the way to see Memaw Angel one night last week, Luke said, "Mommy, when I see Memaw, I'm going to eat her up. I think I will have her for a dessert." Now, that's cute! When I told memaw what he said, she melted! :) Luke loves his memaw!!! :)
Alrighty....so, that's all for now! See you soon!
