So, on this gorgeous morning, Luke and I visited the pumpkin patch in Gibsonville. Heather and Silas Lohr joined us. We had an awesome time, and, like I said, I will post pics and more details soon. We were almost at the end of our trip. Heather and Silas had already left and Luke and I were sitting in one of the barrels on the cow train waiting for everyone to load. This was our last ride and then we were heading home.
Get this picture in your mind...Luke sitting on my lap inside a cow train barrel - other children sitting in their cow train barrels, several parents and families waiting right beside of us for the next cow train - there is a nice breeze blowing in the air, it's a gorgeous, peaceful day, it's fairly quiet when all of a sudden, with no warning or prompting, Luke yells "Mitt Romney!" Oh my gracious - my mouth fell open and I said, "Luke, where did that come from?" Meanwhile, several parents standing beside the rope burst into laughter and looked at me and said, "I guess we know who you are voting for" (and grinned). My response, "Oh, yes you do. Now, let's hope he stops before he says anything about the other candidate." We don't say bad words around Luke but Luke is aware that OBAMA STINKS and has at times repeated that exact phrase. Thank goodness after Luke saw the reaction that he got from everyone after yelling Mitt Romney, he all of a sudden got shy and didn't say anything else out loud. One of the mothers asked me later - How old is he? I proudly said, "2 - almost 3." She was amazed that he would remember a detail such as that name - Mitt Romney.
After getting over the shock myself that Luke would just think of that name while sitting in such a peaceful place and with no prior conversation about Mitt Romney directly to him in days, my next reaction was laughter and, quite honestly, some pride! I pray that Luke shows the same enthusiasm for Jesus throughout his lifetime! :)
On the way to the car, I called Landis to tell him about our son wanting to join the campaign trail. Landis was a proud Daddy and thought the incident was hilarious, just as I did. So....I guess....if Mitt Romney needed an age 2 and under campaign manager, Luke would get the job! :) So hilarious!!!
Speaking of hilarious...another cute moment this morning came as we were driving home from the pumpkin patch. Luke said, "Mommy, let's play I spy." I said, "I spy a cute little boy in the backseat." Luke responded with (while grinning), "I spy a cute little girl in the front seat." I laughed and then reached around and tickled Luke's leg and said, "You are a mess, you know that?" Luke responded with, "That was hilarious!!!" :) His vocabulary just grows and grows!
While I'm rambling....here are a few more cute sayings we have heard from Luke in the last few days.
He randomly said the other day, "That's a fact, Jack!"
Then, yesterday, he put one of his tractors in time-out - he actually took the tractor to his time-out chair and sat him in it. He forcefully put the tractor in the chair, got this mean look on his face rambled to the tractor something about how he shouldn't have been bumping Emily and then he said, "And, I'm not playing." Wow! I wonder where he's heard that from before????? (And, guess what? He wasn't playing - that tractor stayed in time out for quite awhile.) :)
I hope everyone is enjoying this awesome fall weekend - I can't wait until Luke wakes up from his nap so we can get back outside! Fun times! :)
Check back soon for mountain pics and pumpkin patch pics! Here's a sneak peek of our trip to the mountains - it was PERFECT! :)
