A little revelation the Holy Spirit gave me this morning....
Before the BIG snow came, we had a big area of mud beside of our driveway (where we had new concrete poured). The mud was ugly, dirty, and spread all over our driveway easily. When it snowed and EVERYTHING was covered in the beautiful blanket of white, you could no longer see that yucky mud...as I looked out Kate's bedroom window at the gorgeous scene of God's absolute glory displayed in nature, I thought about how the snow covering the nasty mud and dirt correlated to Jesus' blood covering our sins. You see Jesus' blood covers all the nasty, dirty, yucky things we have done in our life...because Jesus shed His blood for us, when we accept the Spirit of Jesus to come into our hearts, then we are covered by His blood and God sees Jesus (His beautiful, perfect Son) INSIDE of us...He doesn't see that yucky mud (sin in our lives), He sees the thick layer of beautiful white snow (His only Son, Jesus). What a revelation! And, it gets better...in the natural, the snow melts away and you can once again see the yucky mud but this isn't the case with God - when we accept Jesus as our savior, God casts our sins away and doesn't bring them back up again - the blood of Jesus doesn't "melt" or disappear - the blood of Jesus COVERS the sin forever and we can rest (through faith) in our righteousness because Jesus overcame sin and death! Wow! I am so thankful for how God is always wanting to remind us of His mercy and LOVE!
"Who is a God like You? Who forgives iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does NOT retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy and loving-kindness. He will again have COMPASSION on us; He will subdue and tread underfoot our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea." Micah 7:18-19
