Snow Days

I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of snow...I never really have been...why? It's cold...you are stuck in the house for days and the missed school days usually result in the loss of spring break and extra days added to the end of the school year, which cuts into my favorite time of the year-pool weather. :)

So...when mother nature sent us this snow/ice mess that we had last week, I, at first, was disappointed, but, then just decided...let's enjoy our time cooped up as a family...and enjoy our time is what we did...

Luke and I occupied ourselves by....

-playing music and dancing, dancing, and dancing some more...Luke's latest dance move is pretending to be an airplane...he sticks his arms out to the side and and turns in circles...I get dizzy doing it with him, but it doesn't seem to bother him.

-building things - we built block towers, towers out of plastic tupperware containers, and towers out of bowls

-riding things - I took Luke for rides in his red car, Thomas the train, and on many carpet rides (pulling Luke on a blanket) - oh yeah, and of course, the occasional ride in the laundry basket to "help" mommy with the laundry (I had to do something productive - he, he).

-playing on his slide - he climbed the steps, went down the slide, then up the slide and jumped off the steps into my arms - he did this over and over - we then used a ball to roll up and down the slide

-we read a ton of books - I read to Luke and then he "read" to me - I love to hear him jabber while looking at the pictures

-played with "Little People" - the Little People farm animals that is - we put them in the farm house, in muffin cups, on the window sill

-hide and seek and tag - I chased Luke around the couch and the coffee table. I would hide in various places around the house and call Luke's name and he would come find me-I just loved seeing that sweet grin looking up at me when he realized he had found me...

-played peek-a-book in various places - behind doors, under bowls, in between the farm house doors, through the tunnel

-played with the ball - kicked it, bounced it, threw it in the basketball goal - Luke can make "hoops" all by himself

-had lots of tickle sessions

-played with the Magna Doodle - I drew a picture, Luke erased it

-practiced putting the rings on the red ring holder - Luke can now put the rings on the ring holder by himself - just not in the right order

In between...to gather some energy, we took a few naps together...Luke loved helping me make our own "bed" with blankets in his floor...we could look out his window and watch it snow as we fell asleep.

What a blessing to have this time with my sweet boy...

As I get back in the swing of things this week, I can't wait to think back on these snow day adventures and smile....life is good ya'll...life is good!

Here are some pics...
