The call from the tiny voice - "Mommy" it says - some days we feel like we hear that call 100 times and sometimes (if we are honest) we would like a few minutes of quiet. After the terrible events at the CT school on Friday, EVERY time I heard that tiny voice call "Mommy" today, I smiled and genuinely thanked The Lord for my sweet Luke. May I always strive to respond to that "Mommy" call like my Holy Father responds to me - with love. And, may I never take the blessing of family for granted - not even for a second.
I am continuing to pray for those devastated families....
There have been a few other posts that I have put on Facebook but not on here, so I thought I would include them below....
Yesterday, Luke and I walked in the Jingle Bell Run in High Point. We walked in honor of Logan Rogers (a sweet young lady with Juvenile Arthritis). My neighbor, Caren, walked with us. Caren and I had a great time - we actually had a chance to talk without worrying about chasing toddlers around. It was a really neat time. Luke had a great time too. Even though it was quite cold, he had the chance to warm up before the race by running around the playground like a wild man. For about 30 minutes, he ran, slid, and climbed as hard as he could go - by the time the race began, he was ready for a snack and a rest. Here are a few pictures that I took with my phone....(I several more that I will download later from my camera.)
Luke fell asleep the last 5 minutes of our walk....isn't that sweet? :)
One night playing at home - we were attempting to build a log cabin BUT Luke decided to play in the box of logs instead! Such fun living with a boy! :)
On Tuesday night, Luke, Landis, Mammaw Carolyn, and I went to see the Festival of Lights at Tanglewood. We had an awesome time. There is something about having my family squished into one car for over an hour that makes me smile! Luke sat on the middle storage compartment of the car and watched the lights as we drove. He would talk about what he saw - the squirrels running through the trees, the penguin fishing, the golfer hitting the golf ball, the moving biker climbing the hill and he loved listening to the bells play as we drove through that portion of the park. Near the end there was a light tunnel that looked like it grew smaller and bigger - Luke thought this was cool and, quite frankly, I did too. :) As we drove, we listened to Christmas music - laughed, talked, and just enjoyed each other's company. Every now and then, Luke would lean over and give me and Landis a hug - it was a special time - a special memory! :)
On the way home, we stopped for ice cream and everyone enjoyed that also! Here is one picture of Luke enjoying his ice cream cone!
Facebook post from December 12th - a sweet moment:
After giving me several perfect smooches and a big, tight hug, Luke says, "You can go now, sweetie." Now, that's a great send off to work. I love that little piece of Heaven and his sweet spirit!
I still have a ton of pictures to download from my camera - I will get to them eventually! Until then....have an awesome weekend!
